From 5 to 7 April in Mandalay the City of Mandalay, the Townships of Lashio and Moniywa attended the Strategic Urban Planning training, within the UN-Habitat-led project funded by the ADB.

MCCA was there also to support integration of climate change into urban strategic planning. In three days the participants developed a strategic urban plan for their respective towns, and included climate change and disaster considerations in their spatial and strategic analysis.

In Mandalay, for instance, temperature may rise of 1.2 degrees Celsius by 2040, according to the projections prepared by Columbia University and WWF (consult About MCCA to know more about this partnership). What will be the consequences in terms of production, expansion, economic and social opportunity? Strategic urban planning must consider this, as it sets strategy for the long-term.

Amazing results in only three days. To know more and if you are interested in training, please do contact us.
